Senior photography is a very important part for the graduate. You want to keep the memories from your school years. Senior photography captures passions and the essence of the young minds.
Not long ago I woke up to yet another sunny beautiful day on Cape Cod. My boyfriend and I decided to go for a walk, as we often do, along the Cape Cod Canal. The sun was shining, a fresh breeze was coming off the water, we could almost taste the ocean salt. We do enjoy our Cape Cod Canal walks; it puts me in a good mood and usually the photography bug strikes - inspiring new shoots. Always lots of birds and great photo opportunities.
I am always on the look out for new spots for my photo sessions. It is important to me to have my photo’s backgrounds as diverse as possible. I love natural light photographs, the sun highlighting people’s hair, creating an ethereal atmosphere in the photos.
Walking along the Canal, we see this path and it looks interesting. I see a chain link fence with vines crawling up on one side, and a half bricked wall on the other. I fell in love with it. All these ideas come flooding in, all the ways I can use natural light in my portrait photography. I knew right then and there that it would be my next location for an upcoming senior photo session.
The textures provide a great backdrop to make photos more intriguing and unique. With those vines there are no two pictures alike.
I love doing portraits. I love trying to get an individual’s personality to shine through and show their inner beauty. High school graduation is a huge milestone for teenagers. And a senior photo session is there to preserve your personality in a year book for years to come, a beautiful reminder of the best days of high school.
Sandwich Boardwalk for senior photography: Another location I chose for this senior photo session was Sandwich Boardwalk. A lot of people and Cape Cod photographers love this beautiful and unique area. That’s where I met with Jessica and her two siblings. She grew up in Sandwich so I knew that the Boardwalk would have a special meaning for her. The sun was just coming up and the lighting was perfect. Bringing out this shy beauty's personality was a fun challenge and a rewarding experience.
Sandwich Boardwalk, if timed properly to avoid crowds, can be an exceptional place to take family, senior or maternity photos.
