I get a lot of questions about what to wear for an engagement photo session. And honestly I am so glad I do. Because a lot of times people will be torn between all of the things out there on the internet. So many opinions, styles and trends.
Be happy! Choose what feels good. Wear what is comfortable to you. You really need to like the clothes you pick.
That being said in my opinion there are few things to consider. Your engagement photos are something you will keep and cherish for the years to come.
Those are probably the first professional photos of a couple together before the wedding. So you need to wear something that will look good no matter what. Styles change so quickly nowadays, I personally cannot keep up with them. Trying to pick items that will be more neutral probably would work the best. Bright colors and bold prints could be too distracting.
Also it is always a good idea to get your engagement photoshoot outfit ready ahead of time. Another advice is not to wear your freshly picked engagement outfit beforehand. You want to feel special and in your new clothes.
You can try to stick to the general themes of your wedding and pick the colors that you will have on your big day. It will help to tie it all together since a lot of times couples will choose to do save the date cards with their beautiful engagement photos.
Another thought: I probably wouldn't recommend wearing high heels on the beach. Stick to the nautical theme, something blue or white, or something of a light and pastel colors. It will look gorgeous.
